Bullying
At Idsall we have a zero tolerance approach to all bullying (including LGBTQ phobic bullying). We treat all bullying extremely seriously and as a result there will be appropriate consequences given.
As an inclusive school, we welcome feedback from all our stakeholders. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the school reception who will put you in contact with the correct person.
If students experience bullying they can report it to any member of staff who will inform Student Support and ensure it is dealt with correctly.
At Idsall we have a new tiered approach to any forms of discriminatory behaviour, including homophobic, biphobic or transphobic. If students receive any bullying, or forms of discrimination, they report it to any member of staff who will log this on our safeguarding system CPOMMS (there are specific buttons for each type of discrimination).
Tier 1: Education – Students are spoken with one to one to discuss the specific term or phrase they have used, or action they have carried out. The student is then educated around the Protected Characteristics and any context behind their words.
Tier 2: Parents or Guardians are invited into school to meet with their child’s Head of Year and / or SLT to discuss the severity of their continued behaviours
Tier 3: Parents or Guardians are invited into school to meet with SLT and the Headteacher as a final warning of next steps if this continues
Tier 4: The student (with Parents or Guardians) will meet with our link Police Officer and SLT or the Headteacher and the case will be logged with the Police
Students may be invited to attend informal meetings with our link Police Officer at an earlier stage as a preventative measure.
