Structure of Idsall Academy Trust
The Chair of Trustees is Mr Robert Peters c/o Idsall School, Coppice Green Lane, Shifnal, Shropshire, TF11 8PD.
Academy Members
Members help to ensure that Academy Trustees are exercising effective governance. While they must ensure they do not stray into undertaking the Academy Trustees' role, they should assure themselves that the governance of the trust is effective, that Academy Trustees are acting in accordance with the trust’s charitable objects and that they, the Members, use their powers to step in if governance is failing.
Academy Trustees
The Board of Trustees has three core functions:
1. Ensuring clarity of the vision, ethos and strategic direction.
2. Holding the Executive Leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure that its money is well spent.
Committees
The Board of Trustees has established committees and delegated functions to them, as set out in their Terms of Reference. Where the Board has delegated functions, the Board still remains responsible and accountable for decisions made. The committees report to the full Board.
Headteacher
The Headteacher is responsible for the operational and day-to-day running of the academy trust. One of the Headteacher’s responsibilities is to provide information to the Board of Trustees so that the Board can perform their three core functions. The Board will use the information to inform their discussions and challenge the Headteacher.
