Physical Education (PE)

Pupils in Key Stage 3 have two 1 hour lessons of PE per week. While Key Stage 4 & 5 have 1 hour of 'Core' PE per week.

Full participation in lessons is expected by all students who wear the correct PE kit.  Any student who cannot participate in their PE lesson because of short term injuries requires a note written and signed by their parent or guardian. Obviously we take into consideration any student who has long term illness, but need a medical note for our records. Any student excused from PE must still bring their PE kit as they are still required to help the teacher and other students in the lesson. Having kit ensures they are suitably dressed and allows them to be part of the lesson.

All students have the opportunity to attend clubs and practices after school. We hope that all students will participate in at least one Session 6 activity in our full programme of extra curricular activities.

We run a Gifted and Talented programme at Idsall. During the first term we will be collecting information on pupils level of performance and competition outside of school. This identifies and supports athletes training and competitions and allows them to balance their sport with their academic work.

Competitive sport is available for all pupils in the form of Inter House and Inter School competitions with many school teams entering A & B teams, District, County and National tournaments.
