What Grades do I Need at GCSE Level?
A-Level 2 BTEC qualification in Construction
Grade 5 or above Maths and English
Standalone Course
Move on to HNC - HND level 4, 5
Students must achieve a grade total of at least 5 in English and Mathematics, with no grade less than a 2. Successful applicants must also have a reference that communicates they have a good attitude to learning, good behaviour and a good attendance record. Applicants must demonstrate a hard working attitude and enthusiasm for the subject. If applicants do not achieve grade 4s in English and Mathematics they will have to continue studying these with enthusiasm during the course. Experience in the construction sector is advantageous, but not essential. You must also attend a formal interview with the course leader.
What Other Subjects Should I Study?
This is a standalone course and cannot not be studied with any other qualification except if you are required to continue studying English and/or Maths.
What About Choices After BTEC?
Students who study Construction can expect to go on to study a HNC or HND in Construction. Alternatively, they could go on to do an apprenticeship in Brickwork and Construction.
