Ofsted Report
The overall judgement is that Idsall is a ‘good and improving’ (i.e. good and heading towards outstanding) school. Indeed, every single one of the 30 inspection judgements was ‘good’ or ‘outstanding.’
The text of the report is very positive. Here are some examples:
- ‘Friendly and caring feeling around the school.’
- ‘Students enjoyment of the school is reflected in their excellent attendance, punctuality
and high participation rates in extra-curricular and enrichment activities.’ - ‘Students contribute extremely well both to the school… and wider community.’
- ‘Students make good progress during their time at school.’
- ‘Standards of attainment have improved and are well above average.’
- ‘Behaviour is good in lessons and around school.’
- ‘Sixth Form – excellent care, guidance and support… excellent behaviour, excellent
punctuality and attendance, students work hard… retention rates are excellent.’ - ‘The new headteacher has made a great impact on staff and students. His vision for improvement in
standards, teaching and learning is one which is shared by senior leaders, governors and middle managers alike.’ - ‘The senior leadership team, governors and staff know the strengths and weaknesses of the school well
and are united in the vision and aspirations of the school.’ There is ‘rigorous whole-school monitoring and evaluation.’ - ‘The leadership of the school works well to ensure all students and staff are
treated equally and that any form of discrimination is not tolerated.’ - ‘Teachers’ secure subject knowledge, good quality questioning, clear expectations, and
supportive relationships are major factors in ensuring students make good progress.’
To improve further, we aim to continue to improve teaching and learning and also to build on our existing good relations with parents to further improve communication and cooperation between home and school.
