Headteacher's Welcome
Idsall School is a large 11-18 school set within its own pleasant, extensive campus in Shifnal just a few miles to the south-east of Telford. We have an excellent reputation both for the high quality of our teaching and learning and for our friendly and caring approach.
Our students have a fine reputation for outstanding behaviour and courtesy. Our highly-committed staff team, including teaching and non-teaching staff, put in many extra hours to ensure our students get an excellent education in order that they achieve their very best and become well-rounded citizens.
This year we are celebrating outstanding exam results with our students and parents. 84% of our year 11 students achieved 5 A* - C grades at GCSE. More importantly, 63% of them achieved 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics. This result puts us amongst the top schools nationally. Additionally 98% of our ‘A’ level students passed their exams. AS and A2 results were excellent and we heartily congratulate all our students on their achievements.
We offer a wide range of subjects including law, psychology, sociology and accounting. We are particularly proud of the huge number of after-school and extra-curricular activities on offer at the end of the school day. Every week we offer the following and more:
|
|
|

Additionally we offer the opportunity to study other academic subjects after school.
All 30 of the judgments in our OFSTED inspection (November 2008) were either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ and we will be a first-phase school in Shropshire’s multi-million pound Building Schools for the Future programme which will develop and further enhance our facilities.
This is clearly an exciting place to learn. However, I would like to continue to build on our strengths as a specialist sports college and add an international dimension to school life and learning, supported by ‘leading edge’ use of new technologies and ICT. We live in an increasingly globalised economy and I intend to work with our parents and community to ensure that our students are very well prepared to adapt and succeed in a period of rapid global change and uncertainty.
