Shropshire Schools Individual Athletics Championships
The Individual Athletics Championships were held on Saturday 11th June 2011 where our students achieved a fantastic 14 medals (10 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze):
- Alexis Newton French equalled the long standing title for the 75mtr hurdles 11.6 with a gold in the final keeping her ranked in the top four in the country. Furthermore she won a gold in long jump.
- Nancy Ndure had a great run doing 12.4 (80m Hurdles) winning a gold, another gold in her high jump with 1.59 and a silver for her Long jump 5.08.
- Susie Fagan won silver in her highjump with 1.39
- Georgia Potts won gold in her 3000mtr with a time of 11.37 (pictured)
- Chantelle Webley showed great technique in the 75m Hurdles and high jump but sadly missed out on medals
- Aimi Whitehouse came away with a bronze medal doing 13.2 in her 100mtr heats
- Reece Bevan continued great form with a gold in javelin 42.92
- Another two Golds for Hayley Rubery with a PB and ES in her discus with a 40.49 she is now ranked in the top ten in the country.She then went on to do 3.15 in her pole vault .
- Gold again for Huw Beven with a n/s (National standard) with a Javelin throw of 59.4
- Rhys Furlong is someone to watch after his first season he came away from the 1500mtrs with a Bronze medal (4.34)
- Andreas Vanezi came 6th in the final of the 200mtrs missing out on a medal with a time of 26 seconds
- Becky Fagen won Gold her event with a throw of 10.08 in shot
All gold and silver qualify for the masons trophy next week (Regional comp at Alexandra Stadium Birmingham).
